Chernobyl

April 26, 1986

Chernobyl is in my top 5 even top 3 favorite TV Series. It's 5 episodes and was released in 2019.

I watched it first on HBO but after my subscription ended, I bought it and I just watched it again last month.

40 years ago, in April 1986, Chernobyl (Ex Soviet Union) in Ukraine suffered one of the worst nuclear disasters in human history when a massive explosion tore through its nuclear power plant.

To simplify the events and history, the series uses composite character(s), with one actor representing multiple scientists in a single role.

References

There are a couple of references in gaming and movies about Chernobyl (which is located near Pripyat).

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare Remastered feature the missions "All Ghillied Up" and "One Shot, One Kill" both set in Pripyat. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 1: Shadow of Chernobyl, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.

A Good Day to Die Hard. "Die Hard #5" with a scene at Chernobyl. I am a huge fan of the Die Hard franchise but only for the 3 first ones.

I recall an early 2000s documentary in which the film itself showed flashes or sparks, said to be caused by high radiation levels. In a helicopter scene, the cameraman / photographer mentioned tasting metal while he was there.
