Holy Cow! (+ git-whale 1.1)

Top Secret

The cover and video above are from the movie Top Secret! One of the best comedies of the eighties (especially the cow scenes).

I think we should have more movies like that these days and I heard that they will release a new The Naked Gun movie in 2025.

If you know me or you have read some of my blog posts, you know that I like beef (more than average) and I tried a new experiment which will be the topic of this blog post.

I ordered and tried a couple of beef boxes online and I was not disappointed!

Beef

The first one I tried was the sample pack above from HalfCowForSale.

The package contains:
- 2 (16 oz) 81/19 Ground Beef W/ Full Muscle Blend
- 3 (5.3 oz) Beef, Chuck & Brisket Burger Patties
- 1 (12 oz) New York Strip
- 1 (8 oz) Sirloin Steak
- 1 (16 oz.) Stew Meat Pack

It's free shipping and they have bigger options like quarter, half and a whole cow.

Afterwards, I tried the Ribeye Steaks 18 Oz from Costco.

Those are perfect for BBQ.

I also found a company called Wild Fork and I ordered a bunch of Tri-Tips the first time.

The second time I tried different beef cuts (even beef marrow bone) and from different countries (e.g. Argentina, Brazil).

Wild Fork will charge you on the weight and not a fixed price compared to other companies so there will be a temporary hold but at the end, it will be really close to the price you target.

Wild Fork has a lot of options: beef, pork, chicken and poultry, seafood, duck, elk, bison, ostrich, ...

The recent one I tried was a "Grill Masters Beef Box" from Silver Fern Farms:
- 4 Beef Rib-Eye Steak
- 4 Beef Tenderloin Steak
- 6 Beef Top Sirloin Steak
- 6 Beef New York Strip Steak
- 2 Premium Ground Beef

The meat is from New Zealand and every individual meal fits very well for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I didn't show all my orders but mostly a variation. Every delivery I got was in a dry ice, frozen and very well packaged.

Some offer a monthly subscription but I'm not a big fan of that and I prefer to rotate and try different providers.

I think it's a very good solution to save money, to try different cuts and styles (e.g. Grass Fed Grain Finish), time saving and its delivery directly to your door!

git-whale 1.1

In June 2022, I launched a tiny tool called git-whale to synchronize git repositories (e.g. third party, vendors).

I added some new features so below is the update for 1.1 version:
- You can resize the windows when browsing to scan a folder
- Added icons on buttons and tabs
- Added 3 size option for font: small, medium and large

You can download the new version here.
